Amy Delaney is a PhD-prepared dual-certified pediatric nurse practitioner in acute and primary care. Amy has been a member of NAPNAP for nearly 30 years and has been an active member of the MA chapter, most recently completing a 6-year term as legislative chair for the MA Chapter in the past. Currently serving as an assistant professor of nursing at Providence College in Providence, RI, she brings over 30 years of experience in pediatric clinical practice, education, and research. Her clinical background includes APN roles at Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as her current role at Franciscan Children’s Hospital, where she practices as part of the APN inpatient team and consults as interim APN director as the center works towards development of their APN clinical ladder.
Amy’s program of research focuses on emerging adults with complex congenital heart disease (CHD), particularly examining dyadic management between patients and care experts (parents and support systems) and its impact on quality of life. An additional arm of this work explores parental resilience and financial stressors affecting families of children with CHD across the lifespan. This research has been supported by funding from national nursing and practitioner organizations as well as private foundations. Amy is actively engaged in professional advocacy and has held leadership positions on both state and national boards related to pediatric nurse practitioner practice and health policy.
In Amy’s academic role, she leads pediatric curriculum development for Providence College’s BSN program, while also mentoring students in evidence-based practice and research capstone projects and implementing curriculum studies related to nursing ethics and community-based service learning for students. Her expertise integrates advanced clinical practice with scholarship, policy engagement, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.
