Professional History

Cara earned her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016. She began her career at Easterseals Massachusetts, where she gained diverse clinical experience across various settings and populations, ultimately discovering her passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology. During her six years at Easterseals, Cara also took on a leadership role, mentoring clinical fellows and new therapists.

When Cara joined the Franciscan Children’s therapy team in August 2022, she was excited to expand her clinical, interdisciplinary, and leadership skills. Currently, as a Level III Clinician, she provides services primarily within the Kennedy Day School, with a specialized focus on Augmentative and Alternative Communication, as well as Feeding and Swallowing.

I aim to provide individualized, child-centered support that empowers children to communicate meaningfully. I value each child’s uniqueness, discovering what motivates them to engage and fostering a natural desire to communicate through functional, enjoyable experiences. I prioritize a holistic approach to treatment, collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams while promoting total communication to help children express themselves in the most effective and accessible way.

I am committed to learning and adapts my methods to stay current with technological advancements and evidence-based practices. Above all, I strive to create a nurturing environment where children feel confident, families feel supported, and each child’s dignity and potential are prioritized.
