Laurette began her involvement in research at Boston Children's Hospital after graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology, spending almost 10 years in bench research in Nephrology at three institutions. Laurette transitioned from research to a clinical role and obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing. Direct care in nursing involved adult rehabilitation, school nursing, and culminated in pediatric rehabilitation at Franciscan Children's.
Laurette attended Boston College where she obtained a master's and PhD in Nursing which have led to her combined roles as Nurses Researcher and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Her current area of research focuses on the implementation and evaluation of the use of Simulation Learning with parents and guardians of children with medical complexity for emergency preparedness in the home setting.
