General Rules
Visits from family and friends are essential for the comfort and healing process of our patients. Please help us to maintain an environment of rest and recovery for our patients by honoring the following visitation guidelines:
- All patients, family members and visitors should park in Parking Lot A, the Patient Parking section. Please sign in at the Security desk and give your car license plate number to Security to register your car. If there are no spaces in Patient Parking, you can park in Lot A outside the patient section. You must register your car each time you park at Franciscan Children’s.
- Our general visiting hours are from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Four people per patient are permitted to visit at one time during the general visiting hours.
- Visitors under 18 years of age, including siblings of the patient, must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
- All visitors must stay on the side of the room of the patient they are visiting and not go into the roommate’s side of the room.
- All visitors must practice good hand hygiene by washing their hands prior to entering the patient’s room, leaving the patient’s room and before and after providing assistance to the patient.
Parents / Designated Caregiver Visitation Guidelines
- Parents, Legal Guardians and Designated Caregivers may also visit from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Two people per patient at one time may be in the room during these hours.
- A Designated Caregiver is an individual over the age of 18 whom parents or legal guardians identify upon admission as an additional caregiver for the patient. There can be only two designated individuals per patient.
- It is recommended the Designated Caregivers identified by parents or legal guardian remain the same throughout the patient’s admission. Please contact the Patient Advocate if a change in Designated Caregivers is necessary.
- One Parent, Legal Guardian or Designated Caregiver may sleep at the bedside from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Entry is not permitted after 11:00 p.m. unless it is the one Parent/Legal Guardian/Designated Caregiver who has been identified as sleeping over in patient’s room for the particular evening.
At Franciscan Children’s, our core values of kindness, respect, inclusivity, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. We expect all our staff, patients, families, and visitors to follow our code of conduct to support a safe and respectful environment for all.
